Salmon Fishing On The Genesee River - Rochester, New York
(Rochester, New York - October 15, 2006) (Updated September 26, 2012)
The Genesee River (which flows through Rochester, New York) offers great salmon fishing in the Fall. One of the more popular areas is the Seth-Green - Lower Falls Public Fishing Area.
The Lower Falls area below the Driving Park Bridge is one of my favorite places year-round, but it really is special in the Fall. If you catch the sun and shadows just right, the Fall colors are spectacular.
While I went looking for salmon and fishermen, I also ran into a reminder of how precious life really is (one of the photos below speaks for itself). I found it sitting near the river in a place that would be very hard to describe to someone how to get to.
Anyways, I did see a guy land a huge salmon, but he was on the other side of the river and I couldn't get a good picture of it. Some fishermen when I was leaving were very kind and allowed me some photos. While it wasn't too crowded today, this area can overflow with fishermen at times.
